With her clients, Elana seeks to foster body literacy and promote a healthy practice. Through movement and private instruction, she reminds her clients of their innate beauty and invites them to challenge society’s messages about what is an acceptable body.
After being certified in Romana’s Pilates at True Pilates NY in 2010, Elana Jacobs has taught more than 6,500 hours of individual Pilates sessions in highly regarded Pilates Studios in New York, Seattle, Boston, and Chicago. During these sessions, she has witnessed firsthand how this form of therapy can be profoundly healing.
In an effort to be an advocate for women’s bodies and health, in 2019, Elana began additional education in this field. Her certifications include Pre and postnatal Pilates Specialist™, Support your Floor™ (pelvic floor), and The Center Method for Diastasis Recti Recovery™ through The Center for Women’s Fitness with Carolyne Anthony.
Over the last 9 years, Elana has served as the Artistic Director of performing arts company CabinFever that she co-founded. Institutions have commissioned Elana to create new choreographed pieces at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Hyde Park Art Center, Theaster Gates’ Stony Island Arts Bank, the Soho House, Town Hall Seattle, Comfort Station, Velocity Dance Center, On the Boards, and Stimson Green Mansion.
