Jacobs shoots and edits video as a means to capture movement and human connection in ways that are unavailable on the stage. She sees film as both choreography and design. Jacobs aims to highlight subtle beauty: the cracks in our skin, the feeling of losing touch, the pleasing notion of quiet intimacy. Her emerging film repertoire includes CabinFever’s 2015 documentary, “Salutations,” which Jacobs co-edited. This film premiered at the Northwest Film Forum, and screened at the West Newton Cinema in Massachusetts and the Comfort Station in Chicago. In 2017, she directed, choreographed, and filmed the band MeanLady’s original music video for their song “Darling.” As a creative practice, she consistently creates brief, nonlinear dance films.
